Julie Gonzalo, best known to ‘Veronica Mars’ fans as Parker, is the latest VM alum to sign on to a new television series. Each time we hear of casting news it just reconfirms the untimely death of the brilliant ‘Veronica Mars.’ But hey, Parker was a great minor character and it’s nice to see Gonzalo moving on to bigger things. Plus she’s moving to ABC, a network that has far less penchant for canceling its shows.
Following Jason Dohring and Chris Lowell on the road to new projects Gonzalo has signed to join the ABC midseason replacement ‘Eli Stone.’ Of course, with the fate of ‘Daybreak’ and uncertain future of ‘Traveler’ this could end up being a short lived gig. ABC is not as trigger happy as Fox, but their mid-season show track record hasn’t been great in the last year. According to The Hollywood Reporter‘Eli Stone’ is about a corporate lawyer who starts having visions and wonders if he might be a prophet. Gonzalo plays an associate at the main character’s law firm.
When we have more information on the show and Gonzalo’s role we’ll bring that to you. For now we continue to mourn the loss of ‘Veronica Mars’ and wonder where the rest of the cast will end up in the years to come. I’ve got money on Wallace going nowhere and being relegated to making convention appearances in the years to come to promote things like a VM comicbook…or just to try and hold onto the glory days.
