Game Of Thrones Season 3 Premiere Date Set In Stone
We've heard a few things about the upcoming third season of Game of Thrones, including some casting news for new roles and a few guest stars set to appear in the HBO fantasy drama based on George R.R. Martin's Song of Ice And Fire series. HBO shared an image with the official date for the Season 3 premiere, which is set for March.
There are about as many 3's as possible in the premiere date for Game of Thrones. The premiere date was actually mentioned back in July at Comic Con, but it looks like the date is set in stone (or maybe slate?) as the Game of Thrones Facebook page shared this image this afternoon.
Mark your calendars for March 31, 2013! It's the last day and last Sunday of the month, and it's when Game of Thrones Season 3 will premiere.
This news comes about a week after we learned that Coldplay's Will Champion was set to guest star in Season 3, playing a drummer. I'm sure there will be plenty of other casting details, plot spoilers and other exciting tidbits about the series' third season as March approaches. In the meantime, March 31 puts us less than five months away, which is still pretty far, but not terribly. And it's a day ahead of Season 2's premiere (April 1, 2012) and weeks earlier than the series premiere (April 17, 2011).
HBO included a nod to Game of Thrones in the recent commercial promoting the DVD as a great gift for the holiday season (especially for a person who's really close with their sister). Of course, that would be for the first season, as Season 2 has yet to be released.
