MTV Moving Forward With Teen Wolf Series

MTV’s always up on the latest trends and while right now it’s all about vampires, with New Moon set to premiere on the big screen later this fall, werewolves might be making a comeback. Word is, MTV is moving forward with a TV adaptation of the 80’s film, Teen Wolf.

The Hollywood Reporter posted the update, posting the following quote from MTV senior vp Liz Gately, "It has a fresh take and is very different from the original. It has more of an American Werewolf in Paris feel to it. It's a dramatic thriller with two best friends in the center who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques." The Reporter went on to say that that the new Wolf pilot is being written and exec-produced by Criminal Minds’ Jeff Davis.

As I said, MTV’s up on the trends and while I’m sure most of us can agree that the original Teen Wolf may have been a bit campy, TV shows with a supernatural edge are in right now and from the sounds of it, they’re going to adapt the story of a kid with wolfish tendencies to fit the times. I’m all for a bit of wolfy drama. It’ll be interesting to see if they make the lead character a scary wolf around that time of the month or if he’s going to be more along the lines of what we saw in the movie (really good at basketball and able to bite open a can of beer with his teeth).
