MTV's Teen Wolf Stalks Into Season 3
MTV has done a really good job of marketing its supernatural drama, Teen Wolf, during its first two seasons. Prior to the Season 2 premiere, 10 minutes of the first episode were available online. The show has also been all over Comic Con since its inception, and if you happened to be lucky enough to be in San Diego today, you were probably the first to hear the most recent news on the Teen Wolf front.
Fans of Scott and his werewolf hunter girlfriend will be pleased to know Teen Wolf will return for Season 3. The news comes as no surprise, considering the show does so well with the teen demographic, a prime segment for advertising purposes. It also averages 1.8 million viewers each week. Because of Teen Wolf’s summertime success, MTV has decided to double the number of episodes filmed during Season 3. This means fans will be privy to 24 episodes instead of 12 (and likely double the DVD cost).
The renewal comes in a time period when MTV seems to be pushing scripted fodder pretty hard, with Awkward doing well in its time slot, and both The Inbetweeners and Underemployed heading to the network in the coming months. In fact, next season of Teen Wolf will be a landmark of sorts for the formerly music-geared network, becoming the first scripted television show MTV has promoted that has made it into a third season. I’ll howl to that.
