Oprah dazzled audience members on her show that aired Monday by giving all of them $1,000 debit cards for charity. The more than 300 lucky people given the "gift of giving back," as Oprah dubbed the gesture, can offer their new found fortune to any organization or individual(s) of their choice.
Breitbart.com reports that Bank of America sponsored the surprise giveaway. Relatives of the cash recipients are not eligible for donations (so no giving to Uncle Herman who swears he’s got a “good feeling” about the next Powerball drawing). Audience members were also given DVD recorders so that they can tape their pay-it-forward-esque stories for a future ‘Oprah’ show.
Said Winfrey, "You're going to open your hearts, you're going to be really creative, and you're going to spend it all at once on one stranger or spend a dollar on every person." In other words, you’re going to be generous whether you want to or not.
Oprah has memorably fulfilled audience’s wildest dreams in the past by paying off their debts and given away free cars. The popular host/Santa Clause in-training of the day-time talk show seen by an estimated 49 million viewers weekly, continued by saying, "I can honestly say that every gift I've ever given has brought at least as much happiness to me as it has to the person I've given it to."
