TNT Drama Franklin & Bash Renewed For Season 3
Franklin & Bash is getting a third season on TNT. After a move to a new timeslot on Tuesday nights, the courtroom series starring Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer saw a rise in ratings during its second season. This likely contributed to a renewal for a third season on the network.
A twist on the traditional heavy courtroom drama, Franklin & Bash features the two actors as a duo of lawyers and longtime best friends who shake up a stiff, traditional law firm. With their youthful take on the job, they challenge authority and often manage to win over the stuffy courtroom veterans. The series walks the line between a couple of genres. While it is a lighter version of a legal procedural, it could also be described as something of a buddy comedy with a serious side. The show seems to have found an audience, averaging 4.8 million viewers each week.
Originally set up to air on TBS, the show wound up on sister network TNT, which does seem to be the better fit for it. Franklin & Bash features a strong cast of regulars that include Garcelle Beauvais, Malcolm MacDowell, and Reed Diamond and is bolstered by recurring roles played by actors from Beau Bridges to Claire Coffee. We might see less of Coffee in the upcoming season, however, since she was just promoted to a regular role on NBC's Grimm.
Franklin & Bash just wrapped up its second season and will likely return for a third run in the summer of 2013, although the return date hasnít been scheduled yet. TV Blend will keep you posted.
