The Doctors Of Three Rivers Are Off The Job
Despite averaging 8.4 million viewers since its debut, CBS is banishing Three Rivers to wherever shows go before they die. It's off the air, effective immediately, and will be replaced by repeats of CBS staples like Cold Case, Criminal Minds and their new breakout hit NCIS: Los Angeles; because that series needs more viewers?
The network has vowed to complete production on the 13 episodes it had ordered, according to Reuters, but if, when and where they might see the light of day remains unknown. They could show up online, or hardcore fans might just have to hope for a Three Rivers: The Complete Series DVD set.
CBS is calling the series "on hiatus," but I can read the network speak. Moonlight fans were excited to see Alex O'Loughlin back on their television sets, but not in this medical transplant series. And that average is indicative that at one time the show had more than 8.4 million viewers, but has been on a steady declin for awhile now.
From the moment it was announced, I had no idea how they could make transplants compelling television week in and week out. Now I know the answer: they couldn't.
