True Blood Gets A Season 6 Premiere Date
It’s beginning to look a lot like that time of year where studios announce summer premiere dates! Earlier today, AMC was all over announcing new episodes of The Killing and now HBO has its own important announcement concerning Season 6 of True Blood. The subscription cable network’s fangtastic series will begin airing new episodes on June 16.
Alan Ball may be gone from the series at this point, but that doesn’t seem to be stopping HBO’s over-the-top drama. The series signed on some big names for Season 6, including Brothers and Sisters’ Luke Grimes, Friday Night Lights’ Jurnee Smollett, The Rite’s Rutger Hauer, and 90210’s Amelia Rose Blair. According to Zap2It, Season 6 will feature only 10 episodes rather than the normal 12, thanks to Anna Paquin’s pregnancy. Having to cut down two episodes probably proved a challenge, but hopefully that has led to a tighter storyline.
At the end of Season 4 True Blood produced a shocking and compelling finale that I honestly didn’t believe the show would be able to top. Season 5 came out of the gate hard, however, and broadened the scope of the program quite a bit. It looks like we’re leading up to a big war between the supernatural community and the humans and we’ll have to wait and see how the writers have planned Season 6 out. Without spoiling too much, the strange waters Bill has been drawn into and what that will mean for an alliance between Sookie and Eric could get pretty interesting. Personally, I can’t wait.
HBO’s True Blood will premiere on Sunday, June 16 at 9 p.m. ET.
