The X Factor Cut To One Hour To Make Room For Oddball Tuesday Lineup
A few days ago, baseball's rain-out and subsequent rescheduling wreaked havoc on Fox’s schedule last week, and new episodes of The X Factor needed to be rescheduled. Now, Fox has officially tweaked and announced next week’s schedule, and The X Factor fans are not going to be the happiest of campers.
Let me preface this by saying I live on the West Coast and I watch The X Factor. Last week’s debacle was more annoying due to a lack of new The X Factor episodes than anything else, but, baseball happens. To remedy the situation, last week Fox announced it would air the missed episode in a special timeslot on Tuesday from 8:00-10:00 p.m. ET. As annoying as this is, again, baseball happens. However, now the network is sort of backtracking and has an extremely wacky schedule planned.
On Tuesday, October 23, Fox will air its normal Tuesday comedy lineup from 8:00-9:30, starting with an episode of Raising Hope. Ben and Kate and New Girl will also get a timeslot. According to Deadline, at 9:30, Fox plans to recut last week’s episode of The X Factor to slash it down to one hour, instead of the original two. Thus, on Tuesday, Fox’s primetime will run until 10:30 p.m.
If it sounds confusing, it is, but I’m guessing Fox is just doing its best to retain some semblance of a regular schedule. Unfortunately, this means The Mindy Project is the show that most loses with the new schedule and has been cut next week. Featuring baseball causes Fox some hiccups yearly, and hopefully this week’s programming will be able to iron out last week’s wrinkles.
