300 Sequel May Finally Have Landed A Solid Title

It’s been nearly five years since Zack Snyder blew all of our minds with the wildly visual and hyper-muscly 300. The stylized effects coupled with the arguably overused slo-mo effects really put Snyder on the map and sparked a ton of interest in the Frank Miller graphic novel. Naturally, since 300 made back its budget in just one weekend, the studio wanted a sequel and so did many fans.

Matt Damon Ditches Plans For Directorial Debut

When Matt Damon and Ben Affleck made their mark in 1997 with Good Will Hunting, everyone was curious about what these young writer/actors would do with their careers. Now after years of ups and downs, Affleck is emerging as a very talented director, and it looked like Damon was going to follow suit. Teaming up with Dave Eggers and The Office’s John Krasinski, Damon was going to direct and star in a project with the pair, but things have changed.

Trailer For 50 Cent's Cancer Movie All Things Fall Apart

Well folks, the time has finally come. Nearly two years ago we heard about Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson taking on the role of a high school football player ailing from cancer, and today we finally get to see what the now 36-year-old rapper-turned-actor looks like playing someone half his age.

Children Of NWA Rappers May Portray Their Fathers In Upcoming Biopic

We’ve seen a lot of rappers take their chances at acting over the years, starting as far back as Marky Mark Wahlberg, whose rapping career now pales in comparison to what he’s done on screen. Other rappers-turned-actors include Mos Def, Common, Ludacris... the list goes on and on. We’ve gotten rap “origin” stories from Eminem and Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, who have each played versions of themselves on the big screen to tell their story...

Dragon Tattoo Sequels Still On The Books Says Sony

It’s no surprise that David Fincher’s Girl With the Dragon Tattoo film isn’t doing gangbusters at the box office. The hard-R film is frequently referred to as “that rape movie” which is enough to scare off a lot of viewers, and Fincher’s brand of gritty thriller doesn’t always appeal to the masses. Barely breaching the $60 million mark after two weeks in theaters, the obvious question becomes whether or not the second and third books in the series will find their way to the big screen and remain economically viable.

Will Ferrell's Spanish-Language Comedy Finding Its Way To The States

Everybody likes some version of Will Ferrell. Whether it’s the version we see most, the over-the-top caricature he plays in almost every film, or the more subdued actor we see in films like Stranger than Fiction that are more understated and quirky than in-your-face and slapstick. Ferrell’s talent is boundless, and he’s taken that talent overseas with Casa de mi Padre.

Prepare For More Rotting Flesh In Two New Cabin Fever Films

Hold onto your skin, horror fans, and prepare yourself for more rotting flesh horror as two new Cabin Fever movies just got picked up for production. Whether you want it or not (we don’t), you’ll get to return to the series created by Eli Roth and starring Boy Meets World’s Rider Strong two more times before you’ll be able to properly forget these films exist

Redbox Raising Prices By 20% And Planning To Add Streaming Service

Redbox, the popular video rental service that helped take a bite out of Blockbuster, is gearing up to raise its prices. The 20% price hike will bring the per night rental cost of a DVD from a clean $1.00 to a whopping $1.20 in order to account for increased operational costs, mostly from debit card fees, to keep the business profitable.

New Trailer For The Lorax Is Grumpy And Hilarious

Dr. Seuss adaptations have been hit and miss on the big screen since How the Grinch Stole Christmas arrived in 2000. While that was an enjoyable film, it didn’t exactly do gangbusters at the box office, and the follow up, 2003’s The Cat in the Hat, barely made back its budget and critically flopped flat on its face.

Jurassic Park Effects Supervisor Explains His Groundbreaking Work

Dozens of times a year, and this is no exaggeration, I compare effects in current films to Jurassic Park, more often than not saying in a fit of rage, “If JP did this good a job 20 years ago, why don’t these effects look up to par?!” Look at the 1993 release of Jurassic Park and compare it to films like G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, which was made for almost $100 million more, and try not to be infuriated by the film makers’ laziness.

Warner Bros. Eyes The Apocalypse, Buys Spec Script The End

For those outside the know, a spec script is written by a screenwriter who has not been solicited to do so. In other words, they write the thing for fun and then hope beyond hope that they can get the sucker sold once it’s finished. It’s a risky game since you never know who may or may not be interested, but as we learned the other day with James Curran, taking that risk sometimes pays off

Behind The Scenes Images And Even More Info On Joss Whedon's Much Ado About Nothing

This project feels like something film students would do on their Easter break, and that sort of intimate family environment, especially for these folks who have been friends for over a decade, means that we’re going to get something very special when the film finally finds theaters next year

Milla Jovovich Unveils Her Torn Up Neck And Leon Kennedy From Resident Evil: Retribution

For those of use who have been fans of the Resident Evil video games since way back when the first one was released in 1996, it’s been a huge disappointment to see all these film adaptations roll through and not see one single appearance of Leon Kennedy, star of Resident Evil 2. His RE2 costar Claire Redfield has appeared in both the third and fourth films played by Ali Larter, but Kennedy has sadly been passed over. Until now.

Elizabeth Olsen's Horror Film Silent House Hitting Theaters Next March

In case you weren’t aware, there is a better looking, less cracked out member of the Olsen family which until now seemed to begin and end with Mary-Kate and Ashley. Elizabeth Olsen made a huge splash at Sundance earlier this year appearing in two films that each got themselves a lot of attention

Steven Spielberg Gives A Job To Fan Who Made His Own Tintin Credits

Once upon a time, in a land not so far away, a man created something so cool that the great king saw it and gave the man the job of a lifetime. Such is the fairy tale of James Curran, a name many graphic designers will be envious of for many years to come.

Immortals Director Tarsem Singh Admits He Didn't Want The Job At First

If you’re like me, you were left scratching your head in wonder at the news that Tarsem Singh, who is currently directin an untitled Snow White project, was going to direct a Greek God fantasy film. His previous films, The Cell and The Fall, had slight elements of fantasy but everything has always been grounded in reality. More to the point, the director does next to no special effects in post-production, so why would a movie about Greek Gods, a film that will most definitely be laden with post effects, appeal to someone like Tarsem?

Akira Remake Eyeing Gary Oldman And Helena Bonham Carter

Well, the rollercoaster existence of the live-action, English language Akira remake is finally starting to even itself out, having gotten the greenlight early last week. Tron: Legacy’s Garrett Hedlund may take on the lead role of Kaneda, but the rest of the rather large cast has yet to be filled, save for two roles

First Look At Darren Aronofsky’s Graphic Novel Noah

Back in February we learned that Darren Aronofsky had set his sights on directing a religious epic around the story of Noah and his famous ark. However, even with his impressive showing with Black Swan, landing some cash for the project was going to be a struggle. Never a man to follow the beaten path, Aronofsky took a unique approach to courting financiers and teamed up with artist Nico Henrichon to create a graphic novel of the story to aid his pitches.

Ben Stiller Will Direct Horror Film The Mountain At Fox

Ever the busy beaver, Ben Stiller always seems to have half a dozen films going that he’s involved with in one capacity or another. Still hard at work on the remake of the classic Danny Kaye comedy/fantasy crossover The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, Stiller has four other movies slated for a 2012 release, and has just added one more.

Anonymous No Longer Receiving Wide Release Next Week

Roland Emmerich’s next film, Anonymous has been slated for a release next Friday for quite some time. And now that the release is upon us, despite months and millions spent on trailer marketing, Sony has decided not to give the film the wide release we we’ve all been expecting.
