It may be hard to believe, but it was a mere quarter century ago that a young, fresh-faced Charlie Sheen was making a name for himself, not for sleeping with hookers and having tiger blood, but for his acting chops. While Sheen had been in several movies before starring in Platoon, it was his role as Private Chris Taylor in Oliver Stone's Vietnam drama, opposite power players Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe, that became his breakout performance.

With the 1986 film celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, MGM Home Entertainment has slated a new Platoon Blu-ray/DVD combo pack for release on May 24th. This will be perfectly timed for Memorial Day viewing, or if you're simply in the mood to remember a time when Charlie Sheen was not absolutely batshit crazy. Or at least not as visibly so.
