Injustice 2

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced Injustice 2 recently, and showcased the game with a cinematic announcement trailer. However, gamers will be able to get their first glimpse of gameplay for Injustice 2 this weekend.

According to Gamespot NetherRealm Studios' head honcho Ed Boon revealed on Twitter that gamers won't have to wait until E3 to get their first glimpse of gameplay for Injustice 2. In fact, the game is expected to make an appearance at the ESL finals for _Mortal Kombat X _on June 11 at 5PM PST.

Some gamers on Boon's Twitter feed were disappointed that there would be no further announcements for Mortal Kombat X at the ESL tournament this weekend, while others were hoping that they would have saved the Injustice 2 reveal for an E3 showing. A few more were curious about whether or not NetherRealm would unleash an announcement for the Kombat Pack 3, but Boon was mum about anything else relating to MKX.

Instead, the studio and Warner Bros., are focused on Injustice 2. It does seem odd that they're using the ESL weekend event to showcase gameplay, but it's one way to get people interested in the tournament scene.

Even still, there's a lot to look forward to regarding Injustice 2. The sequel to the 2013 DC Universe fighting game follows the story from where the first Injustice: Gods Among Us left off. However, NetherRealm is implementing a ton of new features for the sequel, including an all new customization ability for each of the characters on the roster.

It was explained by NetherRealm that players will be able to battle through the story mode and complete challenges that unlock new armor, upgrades and skills for the heroes and villains in Injustice 2.

The announcement trailer hinted at players being able to add armor and upgrades to increase the durability and power of the selected character. This will apparently be one of the defining traits of the game.

We don't know exactly who all will be on the roster in this _Injustice _sequel, but we do know that Superman and Batman are making a return to the fold, along with The Flash and Aquaman (although I'm extremely disappointed that it's not Jason Momoa's portrayal of Aquaman), and we also find out that newcomers like Atrocitus and Gorilla Grodd will be making an appearance, alongside the heavily fan-requested Supergirl. Now I'm really curious if they're going to have an alternate outfit featuring the one from the CW television series?

We don't know if others like Green Arrow will be making an appearance, but I'm pretty sure that Wonder Woman will be making a return to form. Characters like Dark Seid and Booster Gold have also been heavily requested by fans, along with the Black Canary and Batwoman. Essentially, NetherRealm has a very ample supply of characters to choose from in this second outing ofInjustice, so we'll likely get to see some of those new faces when the footage airs this weekend on June 11 during the ESL finals for Mortal Kombat X.
