For those of you who haven't picked up Lego Dimensions just yet, the folks over at Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced a special treat will soon be included in all Starter Packs of the game for PlayStation 4.
Prepare for a dose of Kryptonian might as Supergirl joins the fray in Lego Dimensions for the PlayStation 4. Cousin of Superman and recently starring in her own television series, Supergirl will soon be included in all Starter Packs of Lego Dimensions for Sony's home console.
That's a bit of a bummer for folks who already own the game, as Supergirl will be exclusive to the PS4 Starter Pack, but it should serve as a nice incentive for those who have yet to take the plunge.
Warner Bros. made the announcement official earlier today at Gamescom saying that, starting in September, you'll be able to get the blonde-haired, red-caped dynamo for a limited time. According to the announcement, Supergirl will have a bunch of helpful abilities once she arrives in Lego Dimensions, including heat vision and super strength. She may also turn into the Red Lantern version of Supergirl for additional abilities, including launching Red Lantern energy bolts and beams at your opponents. She can also form Red Lantern Energy Constructs which, on the whole, is starting to make her sound like an extremely useful and uuber-powerful character.
Once she becomes available, Supergirl will join the other three characters that come standard in the Dimensions Starter Pack, including Batman, Gandalf and Wyldstyle, as well as the Batmobile. Take a look at the announcement trailer below.
If you've already got Lego Dimensions, though, you won't be left totally in the cold. Once Supergirl launches, she'll be available in all copies of the game as a Hire-a-Hero option. That particular in-game feature lets you temporarily take control of Dimensions characters that you don't already own. It's not a perfect solution, but at least you can fly around a bit and unleash all of those rad Red Lantern abilities.
Speaking of folks who haven't picked up Lego Dimensions, now might be a good time to do exactly that. The core game is available all over the place for about half off these days, and this will set you up perfectly for when all of the new content drops with year two of Lego Dimensions. All of your year one stuff will still be valid, but the year two content will plug in all sorts of new characters, vehicles and even missions from additional properties, including Ghostbusters, Harry Potter and Adventure Time, just to name a few.
