Telltale Games have been getting pelted by fans in every single trailer they release for every single episode or game that isn't The Walking Dead. What are they getting pelted with? Questions about when season 3 will drop. Well, the new trailer for season 3 dropped and it revealed a new main character.
The Walking Dead: Season 3 - A New Frontier trailer premiered during Geoff Keighley's 2016 Game Awards, and is currently hosted up on the Telltale Games YouTube channel. The extended trailer features around three minutes of footage, introducing gamers to the new protagonist of season 3, Javier. The first episode will be broken down into a two-part episode that will roll out on December 20th.
The trailer shows Javier and his family dealing with the death of a family member who ends up turning undead. This occurs at a time when people aren't familiar with walkers yet, so the family is taken off guard with what's happening.
A fight breaks out involving the turned family member and one of the family members end up getting bit in the face. We all have an idea of how things will play out from there.
The premiere trailer for The Walking Dead: Season 3 sets up the tension well, and then reels us back around to the more familiar face of Clementine, who seems to be the one constant in Telltale's ongoing tale centered around Robert Kirkman's graphic novel and the accompany AMC TV show.
This time around, Clementine is much older; time has passed and a cure for the zombie outbreak has not arrived. Clementine joins with Javier on her journey to survive in a world gone mad. Players will have to make tough decisions as usual, which will change the outcome of what happens to various other characters, resulting in life and death outcomes.
Telltale's The Walking Dead has been a huge critical and commercial success for the company due to holding nothing back and pulling no punches. Characters can die in unexpected ways, they can lose limbs at the drop of a dime, and some of your favorite characters can end up being taken out as quickly as they step into the story.
The outcome of having the main character, Lee Everett, die from the first season of Telltale's The Walking Dead left a lot of gamers absolutely shocked and aghast at such a bold decision from the developers. It really set the bar for what people came to expect from Telltale.
The Walking Dead: Season 3 will be available to purchase either physically or digitally for home consoles, mobile devices and PC starting at the end of the month. The first season will span the likes of five episodes into early 2017.
Now that Telltale has rolled out a date, I'm guessing people will stop flooding their YouTube trailers with questions and e-begging for a release date on season 3 of The Walking Dead.
