April is upon us, which means it's time to take a look at yet another batch of titles being offered up in the rotating roster of Games with Gold. All of this month's games have one thing in common: You're going to be virtually murdering a whole bunch of dudes and monsters.
Each month, Games with Gold allows subscribers to the Xbox Live Gold service to download four games to add to their digital collection. There are two games ready to roll on the Xbox 360 and another two for Xbox One fans. Thanks to backwards compatibility, you can also play those 360 games on your One, so get ready for double the fun.
So without further delay, here's what April has to offer for Games with Gold.
Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One)
The Walking Dead: Season 2 (Xbox One)
Darksiders (Xbox 360, Xbox One)
Assassin's Creed Revelations (Xbox 360, Xbox One)
As a quick heads up, these games will be provided, per usual, on a staggered schedule. Ryse and Darksiders, for instance, can be downloaded from April 1-30. The Walking Dead and Assasin's Creed, on the other hand, can be yours from April 16-May 15.
As is becoming common practice, the team over at Xbox Wire even put together a little sizzle reel for you to clap peepers on, perfect for giving gamers a better idea of what they'll be playing through Gold over the next month.
Actually, this is a pretty solid lineup for Games with Gold. Ryse was a launch title for the Xbox One and, though it got pretty mediocre reviews, those of you who missed out on it the first go round can now try it out at no extra cost on top of your Gold membership. If you're looking for more critically acclaimed stabbing action, Assassin's Creed Revelations was a well-received entry in that long-running series so, again, it'll definitely be worth checking out if you missed out on it back in the day.
The other two games in this month's collection, though, steal the show for me. Obviously, The Walking Dead series from Telltale is fantastic, so it's great that folks will be able to get their hands on the second season this April through Gold. Darksiders, though, is a criminally overlooked gem from the last generation. If you ever wanted to play a Zelda game where you get to beat up angels and demons as a horseman of the apocalypse, then you're in for a real treat. The combat is fast and fun and, despite the darker, biblical storyline, the game is actually full of bright colors and exciting environments.
So that's what we have on tap for Gold next month. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
