Red Dead Redemption 2

Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption 2 is gearing up for release this fall, set to kickstart the third-quarter rush in a big way for PS4 and Xbox One gamers. Ahead of the release, Rockstar announced that the pre-orders for the game are currently live.

Over on the official Rockstar Games website, the company announced that not only are pre-orders available, but there are also special editions available for pre-order as well. The standard edition will net you the vanilla Red Dead Redemption 2 experience, while the other two versions come with special bonuses for those willing to spend a bit more.

There's the Red Dead Redemption 2: Special Edition as well as the Red Dead Redemption 2: Ultimate Edition.

If you pre-order any version of the game you'll receive two special story mode enhancements, including a War Horse, which is an iron-grey-colored Ardennes War Horse that you can ride across the great open expanse. It features higher courage so it won't run off during the thick of battle, and it has higher than average stamina so that it can outrun most of the other in-game horses.

There's also the Outlaw Survival Kit, which comes with a variety of supplies to help you when you're far and away from any nearby towns and you need some supplies to help aid you while you're out there in the great wilderness. This includes items to replenish your health, as well as items to improve your Dead Eye ability during shootouts, and a few other trinkets to help aid you along the way.

If you pre-order a digital version of the game, you'll receive the two aforementioned items, along with receiving two additional rewards, including a cash bonus for the Red Dead Redemption 2 story mode, allowing the Van der Linde gang to have some extra cash to spend on in-game items, including food, weapons, and ammunition. And there's also a bonus treasure map that allows you to spot out some of the rare buried treasures scattered throughout the game's massive game world. The digital pre-order bonuses are only available for a limited time, though, and you'll need to pre-order the game before July 31st, 2018 if you want to take advantage of the items.

But, there's even more! For those of you who pre-order the special edition, you'll receive special bank robbery and gang hideout missions for the story mode, allowing you to rob a bank in the southern town of Rhodes, as well as take out a rival Del Lobos Gang after they commandeered a hacienda.

You'll receive a dabbled black thoroughbred horse, featuring a reverse-dabbled black coat, and an exclusive Neuvo Paraiso Saddle with a silver medallion detailing for the story mode.

The special edition also comes with a Neuvo Paraiso gunslinger outfit for Arthur that's inspired by the vaqueros and bandits that are south of the border, featuring a black cowboy hat, an indigo coat, and leather gloves and boots.

Additional gameplay boosts for Red Dead Redemption 2 will also be available in the package, including discounts on all upgrades for the Van der Linde gang, and stat boosts for Arthur's stamina, health and dead eye abilities. You'll also receive extra cash for every robbery mission you complete in the story mode. There's also a free stash of weapons included too, such as the Volcanic Pistol, Pump Action Shotgun, and Lancaster Vermint Rifle.

The Ultimate Edition of the game comes with everything featured in the pre-order bonuses and Special Edition, but it also has two additional bonus outfits for the online multiplayer mode, a black chestnut thoroughbred horse for the online multiplayer mode, and access to free weapons and free access to a survivor camp theme for the online modes, along with a Rank 25 bonus for PS4 and Xbox One gamers.

A Collector's box is also available with a giant metal tithing box and key, along with a collectible challenge coin, a bandanna, a puzzle, playing cards, pin set, catalog, and a treasure map.

Additionally, all pre-orders for Red Dead Redemption 2 come with free cash for GTA Online. You can look for Rockstar's new western to release on October 26th, 2018.
