Assassin's Creed 3 Weapons, Combat And CQC Showcased In New Trailer

Connor goes to town on any and everyone in his way in Assassin's Creed III, and one of the things a lot of gamers may have noticed is that he doesn't fight anything like Ezio at all. Well, Ubisoft felt like Connor needed a different kind of representation for his skills in Assassin's Creed III and they give gamers a brief look at the new combat moves in the latest promo video.

Basically, Connor is no longer using the fancy sword fighting and distanced sparring mechanics of previous Assassin's Creed games. Instead, the developers wanted Connor to embrace the guerrilla-style nature of CQC and in-fighting, which they felt was better indicative of the time period of the Revolutionary War as well as a better showcase of Connor's training as an Assassin.

All I have to say is, 'Wow!'

The fighting looks great. I'm not entirely fond of the FPS cap, I'm so used to fluent-fighting mechanics from games running at 60fps but you can't really expect 60fps for a game the size of Assassin's Creed III running on ancient hardware.

We don't get to see Connor using the hidden blade all that much, but it looks like it works well as a finishing maneuver for a lot of his combos. I was also kind of curious to see his stealth kills but I get the feeling that we'll probably get a nice look at his abilities in upcoming promo videos.

Assassin's Creed III is expected to release on October 30th. For more information be sure to pay a visit to the Official Website.
