Even though Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is a few weeks out from release, Activision unleashed the launch trailer for the game as an answer to EA’s gauntlet when they released the launch trailer for Battlefield 3. Both trailers released very close together, vying for the attention of the FPS market and in return, the market share value.
Now, every year we do the Coolest Game Trailers awards here at Gaming Blend. However things are changing up a bit this year and we’re only having five nominees per category, which means both Modern Warfare 3 and Battlefield 3 launch trailer’s won’t be on the list. Instead, only one launch trailer can make the nominees list for this year’s Coolest Game Trailers and we’re giving you, our readers, the opportunity to vote for the launch trailer you feel deserves to make the list.
Call of Duty is no stranger to the Coolest Game Trailers awards, with Modern Warfare 2 walking away the victor for having the coolest launch trailer back in the Coolest Game Trailers of 2009 Awards. The competition has stiffened up this year, though, with tough competitors like Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, Batman: Arkham City and that hauntingly awesome trailer for Crysis 2 stepping up to the plate, meaning that there are fewer places for other games on the list.
Well, you’ll get the chance to vote for the trailer you believe is cooler between the two biggest and highly promoted shooters out of the entire year, Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. You can check out the action packed trailers below and the one that gets you amped up the most and makes you feel like it’s the game worth buying is the trailer you can vote for. Keep in mind a few things about what makes a trailer cool: what game features the trailer shows off, the story, whether the music helps immerse you while watching and overall how excited the trailer makes you for the game.
Checked out both trailers? All right, it’s time to vote. Only one of these launch trailers will make the nominee list for this year’s Coolest Game Trailers of 2011. We’ll announce which one received the most votes when the nominee list is unveiled at the end of the year.
