Well, that was fast. A day after news leaked of a third Call of Duty: Black Ops map pack, Activision has formally announced it. The Annihilation Map Pack will arrive on Xbox Live on June 28th.

"Annihilation" includes five maps in total. Four of the maps - Hangar 18, Drive-In, Silo and Hazard - are for the standard competitive multiplayer modes. The fifth, Shangri-La, is a new zombie co-op map filled with "deadly traps" and "dark secrets."

The DLC is being released first on the Xbox 360 because of a long-standing agreement between Microsoft and Activision. Generally, the PS3 and PC versions arrive a month later. No solid dates were provided, though.

Treyarch will celebrate the Xbox 360 release of "Annihilation" with - what else - a double XP weekend. Double experience gains in multiplayer will begin on Friday, July 1st.
