Dragon Quest V Gets A Release Date

Earlier today, Square-Enix announced its 2009 Q1 release list, and as a giant nerd, I have to say "it's about time." Contained on that little press release was the release date for Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride for the Nintendo DS. This will be the first time that Dragon Quest V has ever made it over to this side of the world. It was originally released in 1992 as the first Dragon Quest title on the Super Famicom, and then it was remade for the PS2 in 2004.

Finally, on February 17th, 2009, we will get the chance to play what many claim to be the best Dragon Quest game ever made. The story actually follows the hero throughout twenty years of his life as he battles evil, gets married, has kids, and battles more evil. I'm surprised that more games haven't stolen this idea and used it as their own. Just imagine if you didn't finish Final Fantasy VII until Cloud and Tifa were in their 40's? Now that'd be a game.

Now if we could only get a North American release date for Dragon Quest VI and Dragon Quest IX then I'd be the happiest boy alive. My guess is June for DQVI and October for DQIX, in 2009.
