Earlier today Codemasters formally announced GRID 2, sequel to their 2008 racer. They've released a new cinematic trailer that complements the details and screenshots released in the morning.

The trailer shows cars battling for positions on roads, tracks, and city streets. There's some useful information tucked away in the flashy footage, though. The video confirms that Chicago and Paris will both appear in the game.

The new installment will feature a multiplayer mode with RaceNet integration to make online racing more social. A TrueFeel Handling system, an enhanced version of the handling from the first Grid, is said to strike a balance between simulation and fun. Expect several decades' worth of cars and a wide variety of courses, too.

GRID 2 is due in 2013 on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. For the first screenshots of the game and a bit more information on the features, headhere.
