Today Codemasters confirmed the existence of GRID 2, sequel to the 2008 racing game for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC.. They've released a trailer that hints at a full reveal next week.

In GRID, players run their own racing team and serve as the top driver for it. They hire teammates and purchase vehicles with their winnings. The tracks were a mix of fictional and real circuits. I'd expect something similar out of the sequel.

The teaser trailer is CGI so it doesn't give any insight into what engine this game uses. Presumably it's powered by the EGO 2.0 tech used for this year's DiRT: Showdown. It's also possible that Codemasters is ready to roll out EGO 3.0.

The end of the trailer provides a date: August 8th. We should find out a lot more about the game then.
