Graffiti Entertainment announced today that Horrible Histories: Ruthless Romans is scheduled to make an appearance on the Nintendo DS, PC and Wii. The game is being developed by Slitherine and is based on the popular children’s educational books, Horrible Histories, by Terry Deary.

According to the press release…
Follow Rassimus on his quest to become a gruesome gladiator. Explore ancient Rome and meet a host of horrible characters, play mad mini-games and find out how to fight like a gladiator.

Even though that description makes the game sound like a bloody good time, it’s more like an educational adventure game, where players learn facts about Roman history while traveling about and interacting with various characters. The objective is to earn freedom by becoming a feared Gladiator in the Roman Coliseum, which will take a lot of training a bit of wits.

The game even sports three-player multiplayer modes and more than 30 different mini-games. It’s tough to mention a title for a Nintendo platform this generation without bringing up “mini-game”.

Anyway, Horrible Histories: Ruthless Romans is due out in the fourth-quarter of 2009 for PC, DS and Wii. For more information on the game feel free to visit the Official Website.
