Avalanche Studios has revealed the full Collector's Edition for Just Cause 3 and it features a full scale grappling hook. The replica is a life-sized version of the same gadget that protagonist Rico Rodriguez uses in the game.
Game Informer covered some of the content featured in the Collector's Edition and all the little trinkets that comes along with it when it finally releases this holiday season.
The Collector's Edition comes with a full 15-inch grappling hook modeled after the one that Rico uses in Just Cause 3. But it's mounted and it can't actually fire... otherwise we would have a lot of real-life Spider-Men swinging around town and leaving quite the mess behind if they failed to stick the landing.
There's also the inclusion of a 32-page art book where gamers and collectors alike get to see the beautiful world of Medici brought to life. The art book seems to feature both concept and in-game art in full page color displays.
A 24” x 24” poster is also included featuring a map of the fictional Mediterranean isle of Medici. The map focuses on the game world's archipelago and offers a wide sweeping view of Rico's homeland.
And finally, the Collector's Edition comes with the full Day 1 Edition of Just Cause 3. They don't really detail the contents contained within the Day 1 Edition but there are special perks within that version of the game that includes weapon and vehicle DLC bonuses.
So how much will all of this cost you? Well, the going price for the Collector's Edition is $109.99.
The Collector's Edition contents were decided upon via a democratic measure employed by Square Enix. They actually asked the gaming community what they wanted to see in the Just Cause 3 Collector's Edition, allowing them to choose between the life-sized grappling hook replica, a statue of Rico jumping through a swirling vortex of flames and a radio controlled helicopter. The grappling hook obviously won out, but Square wasn't above giving gamers a bit of choice. They've also attempted to do the same thing with Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Just Cause 3 is set to release on December 1st later this year. The game's release date and a ton of its features were outlined during Square Enix's E3 press conference. We were able to see some of the game's new vehicles in action, as well as the new fracturing system that has arrived with the new and improved physics in the game. This means that players can bend, tilt, sway and add enough pressure to objects to cause them to fold over and crash or splinter into a million pieces.
Avalanche Studios has been putting a lot of time into Just Cause 3 and the game will arrive just a few months after they release Mad Max for the Xbox One, PS4 and PC this September. The studio is obviously going to have a huge 2015 and anyone who enjoys open world action games will be very pleased with the studio's line-up.
