Awhile back, CinemaBlend did a story on a game that was being developed by Life Is Strange developer, Dontnod Entertainment, titled Vampyr. At that point in time, there wasn’t much known about the game other than a brief trailer with some concept art in it. But now, Dontnod has released some early screenshots of the upcoming dark RPG, and you can check out the first one below.
Vampyr was first announced from Dontnod last year and has since then been quiet. Little by little, information has been trickling onto the front page of the official website, which hasn’t even fully launched yet. In comparison to the tone in Life Is Strange, it’s obvious that this game is going to tackle a darker setting.
Vampyr will be set in 1918 London during the time of the Spanish Flu epidemic and players will take control of a skeptic and doctor who has been plagued with the infamous vampire curse. Dontnod has said though that the player’s decisions will have an effect on the gameplay very much like they did in Life Is Strange.
My guess is this isn’t going to be a straight-up narrative, player-choice game like Life Is Strange was though. Because there will be weapons and vampiric powers, I think it’ll be a little different, which excites me. I haven’t played a really good vampire game probably since the early Soul Reaver games, so I’ve been following this project very closely.
The game won’t be releasing until sometime in 2017, but you can bet we’ll keep you updated with information from the developer as soon as it releases. And hopefully we can plan to see the game at this year’s E3. If you’d like to check out the website for yourself, you can do so here.
