LittleBigPlanet Karting Hits The Track On PS3 Today

Continuing the “Play, Create, Share” tradition, LittleBigPlanet Karting hits U.S. stores today, offering the karting creativity of United Front Games’ previous effort, ModNation Racers, with the adorable charm of the LBP franchise.

Having LittleBig Planet in the titles should be a dead giveaway that Sony’s latest racing game is all about being creative. From the Sackboy racers, to their Karts, the very tracks themselves, LBP Karting is all about stretching your imagination with customization. Players will have lots of options to personalize their racers and karts, but the real treat comes in the form of the fast and intuitive level creator. While the game itself comes backed with a couple dozen standard courses, players can build their own tracks from the ground up with a set of tools as wide and diverse as any LBP game.

In celebration of the game’s launch, United Front Games and Sony San Diego Studio have released a brand-spanking-new trailer.

LBP Karting has a story mode, believe it or not. The Hoard have invaded Craftworld with the intentions of stealing all the glorious prize bubbles. Apparently the only way to stop this race of meanies is to actually race the meanies. Go figure.

LittleBigPlanet Karting is out today for the PlayStation 3. You can also pick up a limited edition launch week shirt for your Sackperson to wear on the PlayStation Store for $4.99. Also, if you’re trying to decide where to snag your copy, purchasing LBPK from target will net you a download code for a Targe-themed kart and racing outfit.
