EA announced today that a sequel to NFS: Shift is on the way and will advance on features that were originally introduced in the revamped take on the NFS franchise. The game is being designed for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 and is scheduled to launch sometime in the spring of next year.

Slightly Mad Studios, the developers behind the project, is amping up the visual and gameplay output for Shift 2: Unleashed, by using a new rendering engine and adding some brand new features to the game.

Marcus Nilsson, Executive Producer, SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED commented in the press release about the game’s announcement, saying…
“SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED is redefining immersive racing by blending the rush of tearing up the track at unbelievable speeds with the emotional experience of competitive battle,” ... “We are also working closely with real-world performance drivers to ensure that SHIFT 2 UNLEASHED captures their experience and becomes the benchmark in authentic racing action.”

The game will also be pursuing new racing features introduced by Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit, such as the Autolog, which will keep gamers and their friends up to date on the competition’s achievements and allowing racers to conveniently challenge opponents’ scores, lap times and more.
