At Eurogamer Expo, Just Add Water and Oddworld Inhabitants showed off the HD remake of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee. The remake, dubbed Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty!, is rebuilding the old side-scroller from scratch.

New 'N Tasty! modernizes the 2D platformer's graphics dramatically. While the remake is still a side-scroller, the characters and world are now 3D objects with dynamic lighting. The cutscenes are now rendered in real-time with this engine, rather than FMV. Furthermore, the game world is now continuous rather than a series of separate "screens."

"It gives you a better perspective of the graphics," Just Add Water's Stewart Gilray told Eurogamer, "so you can see more into that 3D world, and it also lets you see farther in front of you. So if you suddenly see a Slig patrolling and think, oh s**t, you can hammer on the brakes, slow down a bit and creep past him."

The developers have made some smaller changes to the gameplay as well. Some of the puzzles have been revamped to be more user friendly. A new quick save system should make the trial-and-error gameplay a bit less infuriating, too.

New is being developed for the PS3, PC, Xbox 360 and PS Vita. The game should arrive by next fall.
