Many gamers missed out on the artistically wonderful RPG, Okami, when it first arrived on the PlayStation 2, and then again when it was ported to the Nintendo Wii. For that, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Thankfully, you're being given yet another chance to experience one of the most charming titles to come out in the past decade with shiny new HD graphics as Okami HD hits the PlayStation Network later today.

Okami is easily one of the most visually arresting games to ever grace a gaming machine. Like the folklore it draws its story from, the classic Japanese art style is one of a kind. Well, it used to be one of a kind. Now a bunch of other titles have (wisely) aped it. But can you blame them when a game looks this good?

In Okami the player takes on the role of the wolf goddess Amaterasu, who must return life and light to the world after an ancient evil threatens to destroy it. Along with the traditional RPG tropes of taking on missions, building skills, talking with adorable NPCs and doing battle out in the field, Okami also introduces the unique “celestial brush” mechanic, which allows the player to pause the game and “paint” objects or magics into existence using various spells you learn throughout the game.

Now Amaterasu and her epic adventure look better than ever in full native 1080p. The celestial brush is improved, too, with the inculsion of PlayStation Move support. There's also the requisite Trophy support for this latest version of the game.

Look for Okami HD to hit the digital market once the PlayStation Network weekly update goes live today. It'll set you back $19.99, but can you really put a price on art?
