The 2013 PlayStation Blog Game of the Year selections have been made, with games like Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Tearaway and inFamous: Second Son earning top honors.

Announced late last week, this annual opportunity for gamers to log onto the PlayStation Blog, cast their vote and see how their selections stack up against the competition allowed just a few days of voting before the polls were closed and the digital ballots were counted.

Winners were selected across five categories with awards handed out for Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze selections. Each category also featured an Editor’s Choice award, as voted on by PS Blog staff. Unfortunately, no statistics were provided, so it’s impossible to know what percentage of the votes each game received. Of course, it could also be argued that we’re talking about a fan-selected award on a blog here, so would all those extra details really matter?

So let’s get to the winners, shall we?

In the category of Best PS4 game, the winner was Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, winning over new gen gamers’ hearts with its swashbuckling action and high seas sailing. Gold went to Killzone: Shadow Fall with Battlefield 4 taking silver despite its ridiculous bugs and crashes and Resogun taking bronze. The Editor’s Choice for this category included three votes for Resogun and one for ACIV. The editors chime in on each of their selections in the Blog post.

Taking the award for best PS3 game, and surprising no one in the process, was The Last of Us. Joel and Ellie’s battle for survival ousted Grand Theft Auto V for Gold, Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch for Silver and BioShock Infinite for Bronze. The editors were all over the place on this one, with two votes for The Last of Us, one for Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons and one coming from way out of left field singing the praises of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

Restoring a little bit of my faith in humanity, Tearaway took Platinum in the PS Vita category, followed by the best portable shooter of all time, Killzone Mercenary, then Rayman Legends and Soul Sacrifice. Editors were once again all over the map, voting for Tearaway, Velocity Ultra, Dragon’s Crown and Spelunky. Yeah, the Vita had a pretty-dang-good year.

Taking Platinum in the Best Digital Release category was PS4 exclusive, Resogun. Gold went to Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, with Minecraft PS3 Edition taking Silver with less than a week on the market, and Guacamelee! taking Bronze. Editors threw their hats in with Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, Guacamelee!, Super Motherload and the diabolically wonderful Spelunky.

Finally, the fan-voted Most Anticipated 2014 Game was inFamous: Second Son, followed by Watch_Dogs, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes and Destiny. Editors chimed in for Destiny, Transistor, Dark Souls 2, The Witness and inFamous.
