Bethesda pledged earlier this week that they'll release the Dragonborn expansion pack for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim on the PS3. They haven't forgotten about the previous two DLC packs, Dawnguard and Hearthfire, that never made it to that console, though.

Dawnguard adds a new adventure centered around a sect of vampire lords scheming to take over Tamriel. Players can side with these vampires or with the society of hunters sworn to defeat them. Hearthfire lets players build their own homestead and defend it from invaders. Both DLC packs were released on the Xbox 360 and PC months ago, but Bethesda said they were having trouble making the new content perform well on the PS3.

Bethesda said on Monday that Dragonborn would be arriving on the PS3 early next year. Dragonborn will make its debut on that console before Dawnguard and Hearthfire even though it's newer. On their blog, Bethesda said that they felt the third DLC pack was "the best content to release first."

"Once it’s ready to go for everyone, we’ll continue our previous work on Hearthfire and Dawnguard for PS3. Each one takes a lot of time and attention to work well in all circumstances and all combinations of DLC."

Bethesda isn't just spending next year playing catch-up with the PS3, though. They reaffirmed today that they've got "more stuff" on the way for players on all platforms in 2013.
