Earlier in the year, Sony introduced "Dual Packs," collections of two PSP games in new packaging for a low price. Today they've announced that three more Dual Packs will be arriving in the United States soon.

The new Dual Packs feature MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and Twisted Metal: Head-on; Patapon and LocoRoco; and Hot Shots Golf: Open Tee and Hot Shots Tennis. Each Pack costs $14.99.

With the PlayStation Vita launching early next year, it seems the PSP is transitioning into the role of "cheaper alternative." I suppose it'll fill the same sort of niche as the PSP, except in the handheld market. Sony managed to get a few more years of solid profits from the PS2 through that strategy so maybe it'll work for the PSP.

The Dual Packs will be available nationwide in January in stores and through the PlayStation Network.
