The story of Bruce Campbell's cameo in Sam Raimi's Oz: The Great and Powerful is starting to cause headaches. Allow me to take you back to the beginning: in August, Campbell took to his Twitter account to announce that he would be filming a scene in the newest film from the Evil Dead director, saying, "I. Am. In. Oz. Sam Raimi refuses to tell me what character I will portray. Just know that the role is PIVOTAL." That all came apart last month when he once again used the social media tool to say, "News: my scene in Oz has been cut before shooting. It happens on epic flicks. Disappointed, but all good w/Sam. On to the next adventure!" So that's the end of the story, right?

Apparently not. UK site The Shiznit recently sat down for an interview with Campbell, during which the actor revealed that he has indeed filmed a cameo in Oz: The Great and Powerful. While he wouldn't get into specifics, he reiterated that the scene that he's in is "pivotal" and added the detail that it involves a confrontation with Oz, played by James Franco. Talking about the production, Campbell said, "The scene that I shot was a page [of the script] and it took all day. It was great to see the scope of Oz and to see the detail, and the craftsmanship and the professionalism and the incredible stuff that they’re doing visually in every other way." The film will continue a long tradition of Campbell doing cameos in Sam Raimi's films, having made guest appearances in movies like Darkman and all three Spider-Man films.

It's always good to see these friends working together and I'm glad they worked out a way to make the cameo happen. Now if only we didn't have to wait until March 8, 2013 to see it come together.
