The Coen brothers' Inside Llewyn Davis has long been on our Most Anticipated of 2013 list here at Cinema Blend, but there has been one problem with our anticipation: no end date. Joel and Ethan Coen made their musical dramedy without a distributor in place, which has obviously had an effect on the movie getting a release date. CBS Films, however, picked up the movie in February of this year, and has finally revealed when it will be in theaters.

According to Box Office Mojo, the studio has announced that Inside Llewyn Davis will be released on December 6th of this year, right in the heart of Oscar season. It currently sits on the calendar without competition, however Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug is coming out one week later, and will still have to deal with the movies being released for Thanksgiving.

The new movie, which was both scripted and directed by the Coens, is set in New York during the 1960s as a singer/songwriter navigates the folk music scene. The stellar cast includes Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Justin Timberlake, John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Adam Drive and F. Murray Abraham.

So the good news is that we finally know when we'll be able to see the movie - the bad news is that it's still many months away. I guess for now we'll just have to keep rewatching this trailer that was released back in January. Admittedly it kind of only heightens anticipation, but at least it's something.
