Exclusive: Feast Gets Release

While pretenders like When a Stranger Calls are getting made, released in theaters, and raking in big money, there are still real horror films out there. They just aren't getting released.

One such movie is Feast, a film being executive produced by Wes Craven and directed by John Gulager. The plot sounds a little like Shuan of the Dead, with the patrons of a bar trapped inside with the booze fighting off hordes of monsters. Feast has gotten rave reviews from those who have seen it, but those who have seen it are few. It's a horror/comedy/thriller that the world at large seems to be doing its best to keep people from seeing, unless they happened to stumble in to a film festival.

But maybe that's about to change. After being yanked around the release date calendar, shown at couple of festivals, advertised and then un-advertised, it seems Feast is coming in 2006… maybe.

Long time Cinema Blend reader "Mr. Wirberly" and frequent CB associate sent the following in to us tonight:

I got some EXCLUSIVE quotes for ya.. I was B.S.ing with Judah Friedlander (American Splendor, Along Came Polly) and the topic came up on the consistantly delayed new horror flick Executive Produced by Wes Craven called Feast starring him, Balthazar Getty, Jason Mewes, and Henry Rollins. He said......

"They’re telling me now April….Maybe. I don’t know what the **** is going on dude. I’ll believe it when I see it. First it was Christmas, then January 20th, so who the **** knows?"

Then I mentioned seeing the trailer for the flick on his website, WorldChampionOfTheWorld.com, shortly after it debuted....apparently exclusively his site had major traffic and he had to pull the trailer from the site. In regards to that he said...

Well they [the studio] first gave me the thing to put on my website. Then I get this message from them to take it off. Now I’m getting a shitload of emails from dudes bein’ all ‘what the ****’ and shit.

Wirberley isn't likely to make anything up, and Friedlander does have a role in the film, even if it's just as "Beer Guy". So, if you've had an eye out for Feast, start thinking April. If you haven't been watching for it before, keep an eye out for it now, or at least root for it to get released.
