First Look Goblin King From Hobbit

Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings movies already showed us many of the creatures that will also be appearing in the three Hobbit films, from wargs to orcs to trolls, but there are still a few mysteries around. We still have no idea what Smaug, the great dragon that will be voiced by Benedict Cumberbatch, will look like like, but today we may have our first look at the character known as The Goblin King. A creature that Bilbo Baggins and the dwarfs encounter while roaming the Misty Mountains, The Goblin King is a giant, grotesque, awful being in J.R.R. Tolkien's book, and it looks like that description will fit the on-screen version as well.
The One Ring has gotten its hands on a scans from the children’s movie tie-in book "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey Annual 2013," which gives us not only our first look at The Goblin King, but also one of his minions. You can head over to the source to see Goblin image from the first video blog.
The Goblin King will be played by Barry Humphries in the movie and this design is just spectacular. Given Weta's creature designs on the original trilogy nobody expected their work on The Hobbit to be any less impressive, and it looks like they won't be disappointing us. This thing looks absolutely horrible, and I mean that in the most complimentary way possible.
The first Hobbit film, An Unexpected Journey, will be in theaters on December 14th; the second movie, now titled The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will arrive on December 13, 2013; and the final chapter, The Hobbit: There And Back Again, will be here on July 18, 2014.
