First Review Of Knocked Up

More than a few people are still up in arms over Crash beating out Brokeback Mountain for the Oscar last year. Get over it folks. The real crime last year was that The 40 Year-Old Virgin wasn't even nominated. Gay cowboys were a gimmick, Judd Apatow's Virgin was the best movie of last year.

Apatow's movie isn'tt just funny, it's a complete, heartfelt, full-bodied film. Anyone who tries to argue that Wedding Crashers was the better comedy doesn't get the point. Virgin is so much more than just incredibly funny. Comedies, even complex ones like Virgin, never get the kind of respect they deserve and it looks like Judd's next one may be destined to be another overlooked work of genius.

It's called Knocked Up, Seth Rogen stars, and even though it's still ten months away from arriving in theaters, the first review has hit the web over at AICN. The verdict? Apatow has actually topped himself. Harry's reviewer wants someone to hand Apatow his damn Oscar.

Here's a few choice quotes from the Knocked Up review:

"You know how 40-YEAR-OLD VIRGIN was completely filthy and hilarious, but Then also surprised the hell out of you by being much sweeter than a Nora Ephron script could ever dream of being? KNOCKED UP takes it to the next level like a motherfucker."

"The two main performances by Seth Rogen and Katherine Heigl are two of the best performances I've ever seen in a "comedy.""

"…it's a damn near perfect movie."

If Knocked Up is even half as good as this spy indicates, I can't wait to sink my teeth into another work of Apatow genius. Read the full review by clicking here.

Right now Knocked Up is currently scheduled for a August 17, 2007 release, but if they're already screening it, then maybe it'll be out sooner.
