The September arrival of Star Wars on Blu-ray is one of the most anticipated home-video releases in decades. Sure, the box set includes the vastly inferior prequels. And sure, we're still only getting the special editions rather than the original cuts of the first trilogy that many of us would prefer. And sure, most of us have already given George Lucas our money for various iterations of these films a half-dozen times before and...wait, why were we excited again?

At any rate, for those of you whose excitement is still edging out your time-worn bitterness, you can now get a sneak peak at some of the bonus features that will be filling out the Star Wars Blu-ray sets. Well, assuming you have an iPad, anyway. If so, you can download the Star Wars Blu-Ray: Early Access App, which will let you explore never-before-seen content such as "matte paintings and concept art; prop, maquette and costume turnarounds; supplementary interviews with cast and crew; and more." If you don't have an iPad, the app will be available for all iDevices (hopefully including the iRack) on August 2nd. No word from the press release whether non iUsers will be getting their own version at some point...you'd think it would be a natural fit for Droid phones...

Also a heads-up for you Comic-Con goers: you can stop by the booth #3528 to check out the app in action, as well as getting a further look at the Star Wars Blu-rays. Here are some stills from the app:
