Jackie Chan Kicks Ass With Class

Jackie Chan may fight a lot in movies, but he doesn’t have sex or beat people to bloody pulps on the screen. Sure, he may give his enemy a karate chop to the head or solve disputes with the almighty fist, but he doesn’t really consider that violence. In a statement made to the Associated Press, he said his movies have "a lot of action but no violence.” Based on this declaration, since he fights (without gore) and doesn’t participate in bedtime action, he considers himself a role model to kids. Hmmmm. Sounds like MPAA logic to me.

Chan also never says the F word, since he is a UNICEF goodwill ambassador. He even convinced the director of Rush Hour to remove his lines of profanity from the film. He tries to keep the humor clean, saying "I have a lot of comedy but it's not dirty comedy." The international star has appeared in over 95 (!) movies including the Rush Hour series, Shanghai Knights, and The Tuxedo.

In other movie news, an action flick starring him and Jet Li is nearly a done deal. Chan says, "All the hurdles have been overcome. The only problem left is the script. We need a script that he approves and I approve. If that goes well, shooting will start in March or April in Shanghai." Expect to see him fight more bad guys, but in the sweet, kid-friendly kind of way. Or something.
