Heather Graham's career has been filled with many ups-and-downs but one film she can always be proud of is Paul Thomas Anderson's Boogie Nights. Her role in the film, as the porn star known only as Rollergirl, isn't very big, but she does get substantial screentime and can take pleasure in knowing that she was in one of the best films of the 90s. Now, 14 years later, she's ready to get back into the porn game.
Variety reports that Graham, James Franco, Dev Patel and Lili Taylor have signed on for Cherry, a drama directed by Stephen Elliott (best known for writing The Adderall Diaries). In the film, written by Lorelei Lee, a 18-year-old girl moves to Los Angeles and becomes a porn actress and hooks up with a "cocaine-addicted lawyer" (James Franco). Graham will play a former porn star-turned director who obsesses over the young girl, Taylor will play the girl's mom and Patel will be the girl's best friend who also happens to be in love with her. Set to film in San Francisco, production will begin next month.
Perhaps even more interesting than Graham's Boogie Nights connection is the fact that as of January James Franco was in talks to star as the infamous Chuck Traynor in Lovelace, the Linda Lovelace biopic with Kate Hudson. I guess he just really wants to make a movie about porn.
