Jason Priestley Going The Producer Route

Jason Priestley, unlike so many icons of the 90s, has managed not to turn himself into a self-parody as he makes his way toward middle age. No DUI arrests, no embarrassing comeback attempts, just a slow and steady career that's also involved some work behind the camera. So don't immediately jump to the worst conclusion at the news that Priestley is developing a drug-smuggling drama called Death of a Freerider. It actually doesn't sound like a terrible plan.

According to Variety, Priestley has optioned the rights to the Rolling Stone article about a 22-year-old Canadian mountain biker who became a drug smuggler and eventually died thanks to his career choice. Priestley is on board as a producer, alongside Chad Oakes and Mike Frislev of Nomadic Pictures. Priestley, obviously, isn't a likely candidate to play the lead role, and it sounds like an actually interesting story that would make a good movie. So good on you, Brandon Walsh! You haven't made anyone reconsider that mid-90s crush just yet.
