Lance Armstrong Biopic Gets A Writer

It seems utterly foolish to make a biopic about Lance Armstrong, given that he's a cultural figure who's still very much active, and is really just one DUI or off-color remark from becoming as loathed as he was once revered. But hey, Live Strong Columbia Pictures-- they've found a writer, Gary Ross, to write the screenplay for the Armstrong biopic, and may get it started as soon as next year.

THR's Risky Biz blog spoke to the movie's producer Frank Marshall, who said Ross was hired from his experience writing and directing sports movies. “We knew Gary well from his work on Seabiscuit and thought he’d be perfect for this,” he said, referring to himself and producing partner Kathleen Kennedy. Risky Biz mentions that Matt Damon's name has been the most recent one attached to play Armstrong, but no one has been officially cast yet.
