Lennon Childhood Biopic Picked Up By Weinsteins

The ongoing pop culture obsession with the Beatles has never shown any sign of stopping, and now we're bringing it to new levels: the biopic. It's just John Lennon for now, in the film Nowhere Boy, but surely it's only a matter of time before we learn about Ringo's boyhood drum lessons.

Anyway, Nowhere Boy has been picked up for distribution by the Weinstein Company, which might mean big Oscar hopes for this small film. THR reports that production is ongoing for the film, which stars Aaron Johnson as the young Lennon, with Kristin Scott Thomas as his "polarizing" Aunt Mimi. The movie centers around his aunt and mother's custody battle over him.

I might write this one off as a passion project that would only appeal to Beatle-philes, but Kristin Scott Thomas has great taste in projects, and classes up pretty much anything she does. So while this might remain a small release, it still might be one to watch out for.
