A Look At The Seventh Son's Jeff Bridges And Ben Barnes As Master And Apprentice

Among the many books getting the feature film treatment in the coming year is Joseph Delaney's The Spook's Apprentice, or in the U.S., The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch, which is going by the title The Seventh Son for the film adaptation, directed by Sergey Brodrov. A couple of photos have made their way online, which give us a look at some of the leads, including Jeff Bridges as Master Gregory and Ben Barnes as the titled Seventh Son, Tom Ward.

The first in a series of fantasy novels, The Spook's Apprentice introduces us to Tom Ward, a kid (in the book, he's twelve) who is the seventh son of a seventh son, which makes him eligible for apprenticeship under the local "Spook," Master Gregory, whose job it is to rid the villages of evil. USA Today (opens in new tab) shared a couple of photos for the film, the first of which shows Barnes as Tom Ward and Bridges as the cloaked and staff-carrying Master Gregory.

That staff may prove especially useful against witches! And speaking of which (or witch), USA today also shared a small photo of Julianne Moore as the malevolent, blood-sucking witch Mother Malkin.

It's a small look at the actor in make-up for the role, which reunites Moore with The Big Labowski's Jeff Bridges. The dude abides.

The Seventh Son arrives in theaters October 18, 2013. More information can be found in our Blend Film Database. And for those interested in the book, Amazon currently has The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch available for Kindle (opens in new tab) for the very low price of $1.99. The price might not stay that low for long, so if you have access to a Kindle (or Kindle app), now would be the time to grab that deal.
