When most of the cast for Star Wars: Episode VII was announced this past spring, it included a number of names that aren't exactly household yet - like Adam Driver and John Boyega - but at the same time those actors are well known by fans who closely follow the film world. The same, however, could not really be said about actress Daisy Ridley. While she has a handful of credits on her resume, including mostly various British TV shows, the J.J. Abrams-directed sci-fi epic is, naturally, her biggest role to date. Of course, the tight security on the set of the Star Wars sequel has prevented us from getting to know any details about the character she will play, but now rumors have emerged that could give us a hint at what to expect.
The fansite Making Star Wars has received what they claim is a description of the costume that will be worn by Daisy Ridley in Star Wars: Episode VII. The unnamed source is apparently someone who has somehow gotten behind-the-scenes access to the production. Rather than describing what they saw Ridley actually wearing on set, however, this description comes from some eyeballed concept art that could easily change at any time (which doesn't give the story too much credibility). As the insider describes it, the design will be rather conservative (showing very little skin) and will have a rather mute color palette consisting of more greys and browns than bright colors. The exception to this is a blue sash that she wears around and off her waist - but even that splash of color is described as "dark." The costume is said to have many accessories, including straps, gloves, pouches and belts. The real kicker is at the end, where the source reveals that she is one of the characters in the film who will be swinging around a lightsaber.
In case you're having a hard time visualizing that description in your mind, artist John Millstead did a sketch of his own and posted it to his personal Instagram:
Given how much J.J. Abrams loves to keep things hush-hush behind the scenes of his films, it will likely be a little while before we get either our first official look at Daisy Ridley's character (who still doesn't even have a name) or read an official description about her personality and back story. Star Wars: Episode VII is still currently shooting, and will be in theaters on December 18, 2015.
