Poltergeist Remake Is Here - Updated!

This week’s horror movie remake is Poltergeist. Blood-Digusting reports that the 1982 scary as hell ghost movie is being redone and is looking for a director.

There will be no excuses claiming this as a re-imaging or some sort of sideways prequel. They’re calling a spade a spade on this one. It’s a straight up redo of the original movie, in fact it may nearly be a shot-for-shot, frame-by-frame, scene by scene remake. It may be unnecessary, but at least it’s honest.

The original 1982 movie was directed by Tobe Hooper, written by Steven Spielberg, and starred Craig T. Nelson, Zelda Rubinstein, and JoBeth Williams. None of those people will be involved in the new one. They have better sense than that.

Poltergeist is quite simply, the definitive story of a family haunted by ghosts in their home. At first the poltergeists seem friendly, but eventually they turn nasty and kidnap the youngest daughter. If you haven’t seen the movie, perhaps you’ve seen the ‘Family Guy’ parody in which Peter must enter a portal in Meg’s ass to save Stewie from ghostly kidnapping. It’s every bit as funny as it sounds.

UPDATE! - The controversy over this Poltergeist remake rumor seems to be heating up. Now several different sources are disputing Bloody-Digusting's claim that a new movie is actually happening. The great guys over at FilmStalker have picked up a blurb from PoltergeistIII.com which says there's no truth to this rumor at all, though they're refutation seems even shakier than the original rumor. On a little more solid ground

Meanwhile SpielbergFilms.com is on slightly more solid reliable. They claims to have been in touch with "very official sources" at Steven Spielberg's production office, where they say there is "no truth" behind these rumors. But then no one ever said Spielberg was involved.
