Rodriguez Still Pushing For Machete

It's pointless to mention that faux trailers in Grindhouse were the best part of the movie because 1) everyone already knows that and 2) everyone has already forgotten Grindhouse. But that doesn't mean that the filmmakers have forgotten their favorite pet projects.

Like the yet-to-be-seen Trailer Trash (which will serve up Thanksgiving in large quantities), Machete also hoped to become a feature in and of itself. According to Bloody-Disgusting.com, Danny Trejo (who played the title character in the faux trailer) says that director Robert Rodriguez is still pushing for the project that he would direct to get off the ground.

Rumors of Grindhouse-inspired sequels have been making round since the film's about a year ago. From a Babysitter Twins movie to continuous Grindhouse series rumors have been wild and unfounded to be sure. To add fuel to that fire, Trejo claims that Dimension Films is looking to turn the Mexican day laborer revenge flick into a trilogy. While that sounds a little far-fetched, the likelihood of a Machete film doesn't -- Rodriguez can make cheap films that turn a profit (when he's not teaming up with Tarantino).
