Side Effects Photo Shows Channing Tatum And Rooney Mara Almost Kissing

In 2012, Channing Tatum demonstrated his romantic and dramatic side with The Vow, his humorous side with 21 Jump Street and his sexy side (and dance moves) with Magic Mike. What will he have to show us in 2013? The first new film to feature Tatum in the new year is Side Effects, which arrives in theaters next month and has him playing husband to Rooney Mara's character, a woman who's prescribed a drug from her psychiatrist, which proves to have some unexpected side effects.

We've seen a couple of trailers for Steven Soderbergh's upcoming film, which emphasize the suspense in the story as this married couple's life is shaken up due to a pill Mara's Emily has been prescribed. The relationship between Mara and Tatum's characters is emphasized in both trailers, and their chemistry comes through loud and clear in one of the two photos EW posted this week.

They're not quite kissing in the shot, which appears to be in some kind of cafeteria or perhaps a visiting area, but the passion between the two is evident, particularly in Tatum's expression and the way he's holding her face, and by the grip Mara has on his waist.

Tatum's on his own in this one, looking well dressed, cool, calm and collected at some kind of outdoor gathering.

Nothing like sipping champagne or some wine in a fancy wicker chair on a warm summers day.

Side Effects arrives in theaters February 8. More information can be found in our Blend Film Database.
