The Star Trek spirit is starting to rev up again. Fans have patiently waited four full years for a sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2009 reboot, but now the time has almost come. Star Trek Into Darkness arrives in theaters on May 17, and we can probably expect a full on-slaught of marketing tie-ins and promotions - such as this new Audi commercial that pits old Spock (Leonard Nimoy) and against new Spock (Zachary Quinto) in a race against time... to get to the country club.
It's a funny, silly advertisement overall, but easily the best part is Nimoy performing a car stereo sing-a-long of "The Ballad of Bilbo Baggins," the song he recorded back in the 1960s that tells the entire story of The Hobbit. If you haven't heard it before - whether you're a Star Trek or a Middle-Earth fan, or both or neither - it's a must listen. Check it out below.
Star Trek Into Darkness, meanwhile, still sits on the horizon. Scripted by Roberto Orci, Alex Kurtzman and Damon Lindelof, the film finds the world shocked after a devastating terrorist attack on Star Fleet. Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) and the crew of the Enterprise go on the hunt for the man they believe to be responsible (Benedict Cumberbatch), but in the process the captain must decide how far he would go to protect the people he loves. Quinto, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Zoe Saldana and Bruce Greenwood reprise their roles from the last film, while new additions include Alice Eve and Peter Weller.
