Teaser of the Worlds

Because us internet movie geeks are ridiculous suckers for this sort of stuff, Paramount will be releasing the first teaser trailer for Spielberg’s War of the Worlds on the web Friday December 10, in the morning. “In the morning” is a kind of vague time, probably to trick you into refreshing their official site over and over and over again until the trailer shows up… or perhaps the thing will just be showing up at 12:01am.

What’s kind of refreshing to me is that Paramount hasn’t worked out some exclusive payola deal with AOL, or Pepsi, or Entertainment Tonight, or Yahoo Movies, or any of the usual suspects. You don’t have to buy anything, see anything, or subscribe to anything in order to be first in line to see the teaser trailer. They’re simply releasing it right to the film’s official site. That’s the way it should be done folks. Now just get it to us in QuickTime!

No doubt since it’s a teaser it’ll be nothing more than a logo or something, but with the amount of flat out respect and effort the War of the Worlds people have been making to market directly to the internet movie nerd, well I wouldn’t be surprised if they dished out something a little more. Hang around the Official Site and email me to tell us what you think of it when you see it.
